What Black Sea lye is:

Black Sea lye (also known as “Pomorie lye”, “mother lye”, “natural lye” or “medicinal lye”) is a natural product obtained during salt production in the Burgas and Pomorie salt lakes, containing many times the concentration of all the beneficial elements found in sea and lake water. In recent years it has been extracted only in the Burgas salt pans. As the water evaporates from the salt pan, the lye remains above the salt layer as a cloudy, thick, oil-like liquid with a yellow-brown colour and a reddish tint, and sometimes a pungent smell. According to numerous studies carried out over the years by scientists at ISUL and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, it has anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and antiseptic effects. In terms of qualities it is identical to the healing liman mud. It is used for therapeutic and restorative, rehabilitation and treatment procedures thanks to its content of minerals that are extremely valuable for the human body, with magnesium being predominant.
